Compression Therapy

Recover Faster with Normatec Compression Therapy!

Now offering Compression Therapy in Plattsburgh NY!

What is it?

Air compression therapy is a non-invasive therapeutic technique designed to improve circulation and alleviate various medical conditions by applying controlled pressure to different parts of the body. This innovative therapy utilizes specially designed compression devices that deliver intermittent or sequential pneumatic pressure to specific areas, typically the limbs. The versatility of Normatec makes it a perfect fit not just for high-intensity sports but also for everyday fitness routines and lifestyle needs.

How does it work?

The process involves the use of inflatable sleeves or cuffs that are wrapped around the targeted body part, such as the legs or arms. These sleeves are connected to a compressor that regulates the pressure and rhythm of the air pulses. The therapy works by creating a cyclical compression and decompression effect, effectively mimicking the natural muscle pump mechanism.

What are the benefits?

  1. Improved Circulation: The rhythmic compression helps enhance blood and lymphatic circulation, reducing fluid retention and promoting the efficient transport of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues.
  2. Edema Reduction: By aiding lymphatic drainage and minimizing fluid buildup in the extremities, air compression therapy can be beneficial for individuals with conditions like lymphedema, edema or swelling.
  3. Pain Management: The increased blood flow and reduced swelling contribute to pain relief, making it a valuable option for individuals with chronic pain or those recovering from surgery.
  4. Enhanced Recovery: Athletes and individuals engaged in physical activities often use air compression therapy to accelerate muscle recovery, reduce muscle soreness, and prevent injury.
  5. Treatment of Vascular Disorders: It is commonly employed as a supportive measure for individuals with venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), or other vascular disorders, aiding in the prevention of complications.
  6. Customizable Settings: The therapy can be tailored to meet individual needs, allowing for adjustments in pressure, duration, and sequence to optimize its effectiveness for specific conditions or preferences.
